Law College Dehradun, faculty of Uttaranchal University organized the 2nd Intramural Negotiation Competition under the aegis of ADRC, from 28th February to 3rd March 2023, in pursuance of its goal of conditioning law students to efficiently resolve disputes. The event witnessed the participation of 42 teams who were actively engaged in negotiation simulation mirroring real-life contemporary conflicts. These problems were based on Family law, Aviation law, Mergers and Acquisitions and Geopolitical issues around the world. The competition was divided into four parts i.e. Preliminary round, Quarter-finals, Semi-finals and finals. Grooming session and mock demonstrations were also organized by the members of the ADR
Centre preceding these rounds on 23 February 2023 and 24 February, 2023 respectively.
These sessions were held with an endeavor to inculcate and foster the skills along with
proficiency in relation to the field of negotiation among the students.
The Preliminary round was conducted on 28 February 2023 and teams were selected on the basis of the cumulative score of the client and counsel. The second day of competition brought 8 hardworking teams to Quarterfinals out of which 4
teams moved forward to the semi-finals which was conducted on 2nd March,2023, adjudged by Dr Anil Dixit, Dr Lakshmi Priya Vinjamuri, Dr Vaibhav Uniyal and Mr Kuljit Singh.The Final round of the competition was held on 3rd March 2023 witnessing the two best teams
who battled their way through negotiation to claim the winning position, the session lasted for 60 minutes with the assessors of the session being Prof (Dr.) Rajesh Bahugana, and Prof. (Dr.) Poonam Rawat.
The Valedictory Ceremony was organized on 3 February 2023. The evening began with the welcome note by Mr Arnav Driwedi, Event head, which was followed by the enlightening words of Prof (Dr.) Rajesh Bahugana, Dean of Law College Dehradun and Director, ADR Centre. The event was also graced by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Abhishek Joshi, Executive Director (Students Affairs & IT Services) and Prof. (Dr) Radhey Shyam Jha, Chairman, ADR Centre.
The Event proceeded with the declaration of results where Team of Pallavi Raj and Mahee Saxena (TC-05) was adjudged as the Winner of the competition, with a certificate and cash prize of Rs. 6,000. The team of Rishi Ranjan and Advait Shankar (TC-24) was declared as the Runner up, with a certificate and cash prize of Rs. 4,000. The award for the Best Client and cash prize of Rs.2000 was given to Piyush Rajpurohit (TC-31), while the award for the Best Counsel and cash prize of Rs.2000 was given to Anjani Pathak (TC-37). The Valedictory Ceremony ended with the final vote of thanks delivered by Saakshya Garkoti and national anthem.
