The Uttaranchal College of Health Sciences organised a meaningful celebration of World Physiotherapy Day 2026 on September 8th, 2026, for Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) students with great enthusiasm and academic engagement. The programme was conducted on the theme, “The Role of Physiotherapy and Physical Activity in the Prevention, Management, and Rehabilitation of Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke.” The event aimed to create awareness among future physiotherapists about the importance of exercise, healthy lifestyle practices, early intervention, and structured rehabilitation in improving cardiovascular health and recovery after stroke. The Director, UCHS formally welcomed the esteemed guest speaker and addressed the gathering on the significance of World Physiotherapy Day, emphasising the pivotal role of physiotherapy in disease prevention and rehabilitation and highlighted the relevance of World Physiotherapy Day in recognising the expanding role of physiotherapists in preventive and rehabilitative healthcare.
The guest expert, Dr. Harpreet Singh, Founder and Director of Divine Physiotherapy & Advance Rehabilitation Centre and Divine Physio Academy, Dehradun, delivered an informative and inspiring session. He discussed the crucial role of physiotherapy in preventing cardiovascular disease through regular physical activity, therapeutic exercise, lifestyle modification, and risk-factor management. He also emphasised the significance of early physiotherapy intervention, cardiac rehabilitation, mobility training, balance exercises, and functional recovery programmes for individuals affected by stroke. Dr. Harpreet Singh’s address was greatly appreciated by the students and faculty members. His extensive clinical experience, practical examples, and patient-centred approach made the session highly relevant and enriching for aspiring physiotherapists. The interactive question-and-answer session provided students with an opportunity to clarify doubts and gain deeper insight into the practical aspects of cardiovascular and neurological rehabilitation.
Overall, the event encouraged BPT students to become competent, compassionate, and evidence-based healthcare professionals dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals and communities.
