The Women Cell, School of Liberal Arts , organized a Gender Sensitization Awareness Programme on the theme “Equal Voices, Equal Choices” on 8 September 2026 for all first-year students of SLA. The programme aimed to create awareness about gender equality, mutual respect, inclusivity, and the need to challenge gender-based stereotypes and discrimination.
The event was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Reeta Rautela, Chairperson, Women Cell, with the support of the Women Cell members. Students actively participated in a variety of activities, including skit, drama, cosplay, and reel making, which encouraged creative expression and meaningful discussion on gender sensitivity.
Through these activities, participants highlighted issues related to gender discrimination, equality, empowerment, and respect for individual choices and dignity. The programme also provided students with an opportunity to develop creativity, teamwork, communication, and presentation skills while reflecting on prevailing social attitudes and behaviours.
The programme emphasized that gender sensitization promotes an inclusive mindset that respects the rights, abilities, choices, and dignity of every individual. The enthusiastic participation of all first-year students reflected their commitment to building a safe, respectful, and inclusive educational environment.
Overall, the programme successfully fostered awareness, empathy, and a sense of responsibility among students, encouraging them to contribute towards building a safe, respectful, equitable, and inclusive educational environment and society. It also reinforced the importance of collective efforts in promoting gender equality and eliminating stereotypes from everyday life.
