The Women Cell School of Agriculture, Uttaranchal University, organised a panel discussion on the topic “Women Reservation in Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha” on 29th April 2026. The programme witnessed active participation from students, who shared their views on the importance of women representation in politics and governance.
The event began with motivating words from Prof. (Dr.) Sharad Pandey, Director, School of Agriculture. During his address, he motivated the students to participate and interact positively on a very important topic. Prof. (Dr.) Rajendra Prasad, Head of the Department, also highlighted the importance of equal participation of women in decision-making bodies in his motivating speech.
The discussion focused on gender equality, women empowerment, and the role of reservation in increasing women’s participation in governance. Students confidently presented their opinions on the opportunities and challenges related to women reservation in legislative bodies, making the session interactive and informative. The panel discussion was judged by Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Dr. Rachna Juyal and Ms. Mansi Nautiyal, who appreciated the confidence and knowledge of the participants.
The event concluded with prize distribution in which Ms. Bhumika from B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture 6th Semester, secured the first position, followed by Mr. Tanmantra Paul from B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture 6th Semester secured the second position. Attractive prizes were distributed to the winners. The event was attended by large number of students of the School of Agriculture. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Neha Saini and Ms. Mansi Nautiyal. All faculty members were present during the event.
