The Research and Innovation Cell of Uttaranchal Institute of Management (UIM), Uttaranchal University, organized an insightful Intellectual Property Rights Workshop from 8th April to 10th April, 2026, to promote innovation and awareness among students. The event commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting by Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, Director, UIM, and Prof. (Dr.) Tilottama Singh, HoD, UIM, along with the esteemed guest Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Singh formally inaugurating the session. The event witnessed active participation from students and faculty, setting the tone for a knowledge-driven and engaging session. 


In his inaugural address, Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri emphasized that necessity is the driving force behind innovation. He encouraged students to observe their surroundings critically, identify real-world challenges, and understand contemporary needs. He further highlighted that innovation originates from active interaction with one’s environment and the ability to recognize opportunities. His address addresses participants to adopt a practical approach toward problem-solving and value creation. 


The keynote session by Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Singh was interactive and thought-provoking. He engaged students in discussion on artificial intelligence and its practical applications, encouraging them to reflect on their understanding of emerging technologies. He stressed the importance of purposeful innovation by identifying gaps in everyday life and developing meaningful solutions. Through relatable examples, he illustrated how AI can be integrated into daily activities, such as smart devices that respond to human needs. He also underlined the importance of advancing indigenous technologies, noting the need to strengthen innovation capabilities beyond service and assembly sectors. 


The workshop concluded on an inspiring note, reinforcing the significance of innovation and intellectual property in the modern era. The event ended with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Tilottama Singh, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, speaker, faculty members, and participants for their contributions to the success of the workshop.
