Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences, Uttaranchal University organized an expert talk on “Innovation and IPR” on 11th Feb 2026. The event aims to create awareness about Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), promote a culture of innovation, and empower participants to protect and commercialize their intellectual creations effectively. Through this platform, students will explore the importance of idea ownership and learn the process of transforming innovative concepts into valuable intellectual assets. The expert of the event was Mr. Himanshu Goel Scientist-B, UCOST, Vigyan Dham Jhajra Dehradun.
The event commenced with the gracious felicitation of the esteemed guests — Mr. Himanshu Goel, Scientist-B, UCOST; Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Singh, Director, DRI, Uttaranchal University; and Prof. (Dr.) Anita Gehlot, Joint Director, DRI, Uttaranchal University — by Prof. (Dr.) Sonal Sharma, Director, USCS.
Prof. (Dr.) Sonal Sharma also extended a warm welcome to all the dignitaries and participants. she emphasized the significance of fostering innovation and promoting awareness about Intellectual Property Rights among students and researchers, highlighting the need to cultivate a culture of creativity, research excellence, and responsible innovation. Her inspiring words set a positive and respectful tone for the session.
Mr. Himanshu Goel enlightened the participants on the importance of safeguarding intellectual creations through patents, copyrights, trademarks, and other IPR mechanisms. He emphasized that protecting innovative ideas not only strengthens research and entrepreneurship but also contributes significantly to national growth and technological advancement.
The interactive session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members, making it both engaging and enriching. Under the guidance of Dr. Sameer Dev Sharma, HoD, USCS, the event was successfully coordinated by Ms. Manisha Saini and Ms. Manisha Khanduja with the support of student Volunteers.
