A five-day workshop on “Cadmium Accumulation in Soil and Water: Environmental Risks and Crop Safety” commenced on 02.02.2026 at School of Agriculture (SOA), Uttaranchal University, Dehradun. The aim of the workshop is to impart hands-on experience to the students of Agriculture in analysing the concentration of cadmium in soil and water samples. Cadmium belongs to the category of heavy metals having potential health hazards. The inaugural session began with the welcome address by the Prof. (Dr.) Rajendra Prasad, HOD, SOA who highlighted the adverse effects of cadmium on soil, plants, and human health.
Prof. (Dr.) Sharad Pandey, Director, SOA, addressed the gathering with his words of wisdom and advised the students to participate in such workshops to gain hands-on experience on this type of sophisticated analysis of harmful elements and enhance their skills for the future. A brief introduction of workshop was given by Dr. Atin Kumar, highlighting the importance of the cadmium analysis, followed by the vote of thanks proposed by him. A large number of students, research scholars, and faculty members attended the workshop and actively participated in the inaugural session.
