The Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS) organized an awareness session on National Cancer Awareness Day 2025 under the theme “Understanding Cancer: Prevention and Early Detection.” The event aimed to educate students about the importance of cancer prevention, early diagnosis, and lifestyle modifications that help reduce cancer risk. It also emphasized the vital role of pharmacists and healthcare professionals in spreading cancer-related awareness to society. The session was held on 10th November 2025 in the Seminar Hall of UIPS from 1:50 p.m. onwards, under the supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Vikash Jakhmola, Director, UIPS, and Dr. Yogita Tyagi, HoD, UIPS. The keynote address was delivered by Mrs. Bhavya Gupta, Assistant Professor, UIPS, who shared valuable insights on various aspects of cancer awareness, including its causes, symptoms, preventive measures, and the significance of early detection.
During her talk, Mrs. Gupta emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, undergoing regular medical check-ups, and practicing self-examination for early cancer identification. She discussed the rising prevalence of cancer in India and highlighted recent advances in treatment and diagnostic techniques. Through the interactive session, students were encouraged to adopt preventive healthcare habits and spread awareness within their communities. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from B. Pharm students, who actively engaged during the Q&A session and sought clarifications regarding common cancer myths, diagnosis, and prevention strategies. The program was efficiently coordinated by Ms. Pallavi Pandey, Mrs. Shalini, and Mrs. Bhavya Gupta, ensuring the smooth execution of the event.
The initiative reinforced UIPS’s commitment to fostering health awareness, promoting preventive education, and nurturing socially responsible healthcare professionals. The session concluded with a vote of thanks to the speaker and all participants for contributing to a meaningful and impactful learning experience.
