Chairperson of National Commission for Women visits Uttaranchal University

Uttaranchal University organised the “Campus Calling” program in the Swami Vivekanand Auditorium on 30 October under the joint auspices of the University Women’s Cell and the National Commission for Women, New Delhi. Mrs. Vijaya Rahatkar, Chairperson of the National Commission for Women, was present as the chief guest, and the program was presided over by the University President, Mr. Jitendra Joshi. Mrs. Kusum Kandwal, Chairperson of the Uttarakhand Women's Commission, was the Guest of Honor. The event was also graced by Mrs. Anuradha Joshi, Vice-Chairperson of the University Governing Council, Vice President Ms. Ankita Joshi, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dharam Buddhi, and Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna. 

The program began with a floral tribute to the portraits of Param Vir Chakra winners on the valor wall at the university. Shri Jitendra Joshi welcomed the guests with a bouquet and mementos. He stated that the Campus Calling program organized by the National Commission for Women in universities across the country is a positive initiative towards gender sensitivity, and its unprecedented results will be seen in the future. 

In her address, Mrs. Vijaya Rahatkar stated that India is a country of youth, and youth have always played an active role in nation-building and serve as promoters of social consciousness. The National Commission for Women calls upon this youth power to participate in this Campus Calling program to educate, protect, and empower every woman in India, starting from one’s own home by becoming a protector of equality, respect, and rights for women as mothers, sisters, and daughters. 

The second and third sessions of the program, dedicated to a safe campus for women and cybersecurity, were addressed by Dr. Palak Mittal and Ms. Kamakshi Sharma, respectively. Twelve students at the university were appointed campus ambassadors, and the event was coordinated by Prof. V. Bhuvaneswari. 

Media Advisor of NCW Shivam Garg, Mr. Hrithik Maletha, members of the University Women's Cell, Internal Complaints Committee, faculty members, and over 800 students participated in this program.
