The Department of Chemistry under the aegis of the School of Applied and Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University, successfully organized a poster presentation competition on “World Ozone Week - 2025” under the theme of "From Science to Global Action” on September 23, 2025. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of the ozone layer and its protection. The competition aimed to engage students in a creative dialogue about the significance of the ozone layer. The event was held under the banner of Eco-Cops, ACS-UU International Chapter, in association with Resonance Club.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Shivam Pandey and Dr. Rohit Singh Sajwan, with student coordinators Nihal Singh, Dev, Avakas, and Priyanshu. It was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Director, School of Applied and Life Sciences, who contributed his valuable insights on the significance of the ozone layer and its contribution to the protection of our environment. The participants from various courses such as Chemistry, Life Science, Environmental Science, Biotechnology, etc., were invited to create and present posters that illustrated key messages about the importance of the ozone layer, the threats it faces from human activities, and the steps needed to protect it.
The posters were evaluated on the basis of creativity, scientific accuracy, and clarity of message by a panel of judges: Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Dr. Nishesh Sharma, and Dr. Paromita Mukherjee. Winners were awarded certificates and prizes in recognition of their efforts. This event successfully fostered awareness and action among young minds, reinforcing the importance of safeguarding the ozone layer for future generations. The celebration concluded with a call to embrace sustainable practices and collective responsibility for environmental conservation.
