The Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Uttaranchal University, organised a vibrant session of literary club activities on 07 August 2025, specially curated for the newly admitted (fresher) B.Pharm students. The event was designed to nurture creative thinking, effective communication, and confidence-building among first-year students as they begin their academic journey.
The literary events included a bilingual debate competition on the thought-provoking topic: “Online Pharmacies are Better than Traditional Medical Stores.” Students actively participated and presented their views both in favour of and against the motion, bringing diverse perspectives on the evolution of pharmacy services in the digital age. The debate sparked engaging discussions and helped students build confidence in expressing their opinions on current pharmaceutical trends.
In addition to the debate, a poster-making competition was held on the theme: “Regional Pharmacy Systems in Different States of India.” Students showcased their artistic and research skills by highlighting traditional healthcare systems such as the Siddha system in Tamil Nadu, Ayurveda practices in Kerala and Maharashtra, and the Unani system prevalent in Hyderabad. The competition aimed to promote awareness of India’s diverse and rich traditional medicinal heritage among budding pharmacy professionals.
More than 30 students enthusiastically participated in both events, displaying remarkable talent and passion for the pharmacy profession. The event was meticulously coordinated by Ms Shalu Verma, Mrs Srishti Morris, and Mrs Prinsa, Assistant Professors at UIPS, who ensured the smooth execution of the activities and encouraged students to actively engage with the academic culture of the institution.
