The B.Sc. Nursing students of Uttaranchal College of Nursing, Uttaranchal University, organized “Breastfeeding Week” from 5th to 8th August 2025 at Government Doon Medical College, Dehradun.
Day 1: The awareness programme began with a health talk on breastfeeding by students Imran, Tashi, Sheetal, Bhumika, Sakshi, Ayush, Mehak Bora, and Tripti. The session aimed to educate patients about the importance of breastfeeding, its role in the health of both mother and child, and its long-term benefits.
Day 2: Students Sakshi Dobhal and Aarti demonstrated proper breastfeeding techniques using a manikin, helping mothers understand and practice correct positioning and methods.
Day 3: Students participated in group activities that included role plays and skits focusing on breastfeeding awareness. Mosukrit, Ayush, Sheetal, Abhishek, and Sikha performed an act on breastfeeding. Additionally, Shivani performed a role play in the postnatal ward, demonstrating the importance of breastfeeding for both mother and child while emphasizing strategies for working women to continue breastfeeding effectively.
Day 4: The programme concluded with a poster-making activity. Students created informative and visually impactful charts in Hindi to spread awareness about breastfeeding in a language easily understood by the community.
At the end of the awareness programme, heartfelt thanks were extended to the hospital staff, healthcare professionals, sponsors, and attendees for their valuable contributions. Their support and commitment to promoting breastfeeding awareness were deeply appreciated and instrumental in the success of the event.
