The first day of the orientation programme for the freshers of the 2025–26 session at the School of Applied and Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University, held on 13 August 2025, was conducted with great enthusiasm and warmth. The newly admitted students reported to their respective departments in the morning, where they were welcomed by faculty members and staff. Under the guidance of their teachers, students visited various departmental laboratories, where they were introduced to the facilities, instruments, and basic safety protocols. This was followed by an engaging mentor–mentee interaction session, where students met their assigned mentors, shared their aspirations, and received guidance on academic and personal development. The respective Programme Coordinators then shared essential information about the academic curriculum, departmental activities, examination procedures, and opportunities for growth.
Prof. Ajay Singh, Director, SALS, addressed the gathering, inspiring students to uphold academic excellence, embrace innovation, and cultivate ethical values during their journey at the University. To foster interaction and create a friendly atmosphere, the day concluded with fun-filled activities such as Musical Chairs, Blow the Balloon, and other entertaining games, in which students participated enthusiastically. Winners of the games were awarded prizes, adding a celebratory touch to the day.
The orientation programme successfully blended academic introductions, mentor–mentee bonding, and recreational engagement, ensuring the freshers felt welcomed, informed, and motivated at the beginning of their academic journey.
