Intensive tree plantation and inauguration of Navgrah Vatika in Uttaranchal University.
Dehradun 16 July. Intensive tree plantation program was started on the auspicious occasion of folk festival ‘Harela’ in Uttaranchal University. On this occasion, the President of the University, Shri Jitendra Joshi planted the first tree in the name of mother and after that Vice President Ms. Ankita Joshi, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dharm Buddhi, Executive Director Dr. Abhishek Joshi, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna and all the Deans, Directors, Heads and employees present there planted trees.
On this occasion, the Navgrah Vatika was inaugurated in the premises of Uttaranchal Medical College of Ayurveda and Research situated in the university campus with traditional rituals and chanting of mantras and prayers. While worshipping the tree of each planet, Shastri ji also explained that tree and its related planet.
In his address, Shri Jitendra Joshi said that the folk festival ‘Harela’ is not just a festival but it is a unique example of positive thinking of our ancestors towards environmental conservation. He said that the ‘One tree in the name of mother’ mission has given impetus to this thinking. He called this mission an incomparable initiative of the Uttaranchal government and advised all the officers, employees, teachers and students of the university to plant one sapling each in the name of their mother. He instructed the gardeners of the university to nurture the saplings planted in the name of their mother on top priority.
On this occasion, Prof. Pradeep Suri, Prof. Shravan Kumar, Prof. Sonal Sharma, Prof. Manish Badoni, Prof. Sharad Pandey, Prof. Rajender Pandey, Dr. Amit Bhatt, Dr. Ravi Joshi, Dr. Ramveer Tanwar and a large number of teachers, employees and students were present.
