Uttaranchal University’s vibrant campus came alive for three consecutive days during the much-anticipated Uttaranchal Yuva Fest 2025, a grand celebration of youth, diversity, talent, and cultural heritage.
Day 1: A Cultural Extravaganza-Celebrating Unity in Diversity
May 5, 2025
The fest commenced with an enthusiastic inaugural ceremony graced by the President of the University, Sh. Jitender Joshi, along with other dignitaries. The ceremonial ribbon-cutting was followed by the release of hundreds of colourful balloons into the sky, symbolizing the spirit of youth and freedom. A mesmerizing welcome dance set the tone for the day.
The campus was transformed with traditional decorations-garlands, balloons, and lights. Students donned colourful ethnic attire representing various states of India. Cultural competitions such as open mic, solo and duet singing, solo and duet dancing, Ad war, modelling, and the UU Superstar Battle captivated the audience.
The highlight of the evening was the Grand Cultural Parade. Students from different regions of India- South India, Rajasthan, North East, Bengal, Punjab, and Uttarakhand- marched in their traditional costumes, playing indigenous instruments and performing folk dances. International students from South Africa and Nepal added a global flavour to the event with their cultural presentations.
Adding excitement, carnival artists roamed the campus as “headless costume characters and performers,” “tall walkers,” and performed bicycle tricks. Following them were the 'Colours of UU' tableaus where students creatively showcased their departments- dressed as robots, corporators, nurses, pharmacists, poets and farmers.
Miss Uttarakhand 2024, Radhika Joshi, along with jury members Jonathan Sahu and Abhishek Bhaskar, crowned Satyam Yadav as the UU Superstar.
In his address, President Sh. Jitender Joshi lauded the students’ enthusiastic participation and appreciated the efforts of the entire organizing team, including the Dean of Student Welfare (DSW), Prof. Shravan Kumar, and the Cultural Head, Prof. Reeta Rautela.
