The Uttaranchal Institute of Management organized a National Conference on “Transforming Business Practices: Aligning Global Strategy with Sustainability in India’s Development” on 5 May 2025. The conference brought together prominent academicians, industry experts and researchers to discuss evolving business practices in the context of sustainability and global strategic alignment.
The inaugural session began with the felicitation of the Chief Guest, Dr Prafulla Agnihotri, Director, IIM Sirmaur and the Guest of Honour, Dr Rajat Agarwal, Professor, IIT Roorkee by Shri Jitender Joshi, President, Uttaranchal University. Prof (Dr) Pradeep Suri, Director, UIM felicitated Dr Dharam Buddhi, Vice- Chancellor, and Prof Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Uttaranchal University.
In his address, Prof Suri spoke about the economic reforms impacting modern business sectors, while Dr. Buddhi emphasized integrating sustainability across industries. A significant highlight of the event was the launch of the scholarly book “Emerging Trends in Accounting and Financial Management”, edited by Dr Suri and Dr Farman Ali, showcasing research contributions from faculty and students.
Dr Rajat Agarwal and Dr Prafulla Agnihotri emphasized purpose-driven strategies, ESG integration and the need to address climate change, digital growth and global challenges in transforming modern business practices.
The conference featured two parallel technical session tracks. Track 1, Digital Transformation in Accounting and Auditing, was chaired by Dr Gargi Pant Shukla, Assistant Professor, Swami Rama Himalayan University and Dr. Megha Aggarwal, Associate Professor, UIM. Track 2, Sustainability and ESG Reporting, was chaired by Dr Priyanka Pandey, Sr Assistant Professor, DBS, Global University and Dr Babita Rawat, Professor, UIM.
Over 55 research papers were presented, reflecting diverse perspectives on sustainability and digital innovation. The conference concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr Tilottama Singh, HoD, UIM, and witnessed enthusiastic participation both offline and online from across India.
