Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Uttaranchal University, organized a Nukkad Natak on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day on 24 March 2025. The event aimed at spreading awareness about tuberculosis, its prevention, and the connection between drug abuse and the spread of TB. Students took the initiative to organize and perform a Nukkad Natak (street play) to convey the serious impact of TB and how it can be managed through proper awareness, prevention, and treatment.
The performance of the Nukkad Natak captured the attention of the entire audience, with a powerful message that connected the dangers of drug abuse to the rising number of TB cases. The play demonstrated how drug abuse weakens the immune system, making individuals more susceptible to diseases like tuberculosis. It emphasized the need for individuals to stay away from harmful substances to safeguard their health. The students highlighted the common symptoms of TB, such as persistent cough, fever, weight loss, and night sweats. The performance encouraged students to get regular check-ups and complete their TB treatment course if diagnosed. The play also focused on preventive measures, such as vaccination, maintaining hygiene, and following a healthy lifestyle.
About more than 15 students of B Pharm actively participated in this play. After the Nukkad Natak, a brief discussion was held with the students about the importance of TB awareness and how drug abuse can exacerbate health conditions. The event concluded with a pledge taken by the students and faculty to raise awareness about TB, its prevention, and the consequences of drug abuse.
Following the session, Prof (Dr) Vikash Jakhmola, Director UIPS concluded the event by expressing his gratitude to the organizing committee members Mrs Srishti Morris & Mr Krishna Kumar for their hard work, and to the students for their attentive participation.
