The Agri Eco Club of the School of Agriculture (SOA), Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, celebrated International Day of Forests and World Water Day on 21 March 2025 and organised oral presentation on “Forest and Food and Glacier preservation” and followed a plantation drive. A total of 13 students presented their innovative ideas on said themes. The students and faculty members have planted more than a dozen medicinal importance plants.
Prof (Dr) Sharad Pandey, Director, SOA, briefed and inspired students on the importance of forest conservation, food security, and glacier preservation. He emphasized the role of youth in protecting natural resources, highlighting sustainable practices to combat climate change and ensure a resilient future for ecosystems and human well-being. The event was intended to raise awareness and inspire all participants to adopt sustainable practices and commit to environmental conservation. At the end of event certificate and mementos were distributed to the winners of oral presentation. The event was concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Dr Rajendra Prasad, HoD, School of Agriculture.
