Eco-Club observed World Water Day, 2025

The Eco-club, School of Applied & Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University in association with Bisleri International Limited, has successfully conducted a poster making competition on World Water Day on 21 March 2025. The theme of this competition was “Role of plastic in water pollution. On this occasion, Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh, Director, SALS has stressed on the fact that it is crucial to recognize that plastic pollution significantly impacts water bodies, with discarded plastics degrading into microplastics that contaminate water, harming aquatic life and entering the food chain. Therefore, single use plastic should not be used, other plastic waste/bottles should be collected properly and then it is to be recycled to promote its reuse. He specially asked students not to use polythene bags, plastic bottles and other such stuff in the campus.  

An awareness rally was also organized by the members and volunteers of Eco-club, which focussed the ban of single use plastic inside the college campus. The event witnessed the active participation from the students and faculty members of SALS namely Dr Sadhna Awasthi, Coordinator, Eco-club, Dr Ritu Painuli, Dr Pooja Yadav, Dr Nidhi Mishra, Dr Shefali, Dr Monika Sing, Dr Shivam Pandey and Dr Rohit Singh.
