The Department of Civil Engineering in Collaboration with Indian Society for Construction Materials and Structures (ISCMS), organized a Quiz Competition for the final-year Civil Engineering students at Uttaranchal Institute of Technology on 18 March 2025.
The quiz competition covered a wide range of topics, including building materials, structural designs, sustainability, and innovations in civil engineering. The event was designed to challenge students’ academic skills while encouraging them to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. Throughout the competition, participants demonstrated their command over subjects crucial to the modern construction industry, reflecting the depth of their academic preparation. The event was coordinated under the expert guidance of Dr Ashok Kumar Ahuja, Retired Professor, IIT Roorkee and former ISCMS President.
On 24 April 2025, a special award ceremony was held to honor the winners. Navodit Bhandari secured the first position, followed by Vikas Tomar in second place, and Aditya Dhangar in third. The event was graced by Dr Siva Chidambaram, Senior Scientist at CBRI Roorkee, and Dr Ahuja, who presented certificates and mementoes to the top three students, along with participation certificates to all the students who took part. Dr Chidambaram congratulated the winners and emphasized the importance of continuous learning and innovation in shaping the future of civil engineering. Dr Ahuja also praised the students for their enthusiasm and dedication, encouraging them to persist in their efforts and continue striving for excellence in their careers.
Mr Gaurav Thakur, Head, Civil Engineering Department, in his closing remarks, extended heartfelt thanks to all the dignitaries, participants, and organizers who contributed to the success of the event.
