Industrial Visit to NATCO Pharma Limited by Chemistry Department

As part of the academic curriculum, students of B.Sc. Chemistry and M.Sc. (Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry) of School of Applied and Life Sciences visited NATCO Pharma Limited on 19 January 2025. The purpose of the visit was to help students gain practical exposure to the pharmaceutical industry and understand drug manufacturing processes. The students were accompanied by Dr Shivam Pandey and Ms Mahima Chaudhary. 

Upon arrival, the students were greeted by plant head N. Srinivasan who gave an overview of the company’s history, core values, and major therapeutic areas, including oncology, cardiology and antiviral drugs. The visit began with a tour of the manufacturing unit, where the students observed the production of tablets and capsules. Next, in the Quality Control & Assurance department, students learned about various analytical techniques used to assess drug purity, stability, and potency. Different testing methods were demonstrated which are done to ensure compliance with industry regulations. The final stage of the visit covered the packaging and distribution department, where students observed how medicines are packed, labelled, and prepared for distribution. The industrial visit was organized by Dr Ajay Singh, Director, SALS and served as an enriching experience for students as it enhanced their understanding of chemistry in real-world pharmaceutical manufacturing and inspired them to explore career opportunities in the industry.
