An awareness camp focused on maternal well-being was organized by the students of Uttaranchal College of Health Sciences at the CHC Sahaspur, Dehradun from 6 December 2023 to 24 December 2023. The event aimed to provide valuable information to expectant mothers and caregivers on a variety of topics crucial to the health and wellness of both mother and child. The camp's primary focus areas included mental health, diet, healthy lifestyle, and prenatal and postnatal care. Faculty members and students delivered interactive sessions emphasizing the importance of mental well-being during pregnancy, stressing how stress management, emotional support, and mental health interventions can contribute to healthier pregnancies.

A comprehensive talk on nutrition highlighted the significance of a balanced diet, rich in essential nutrients, to ensure optimal health for both mother and baby. Empasis was laid on the consumption of locally available grains and their health benefits. Special focus was given to iron, calcium, and folic acid intake, along with tips for maintaining a healthy weight throughout pregnancy. Prenatal and postnatal care were key components of the camp, where guidance on regular check-ups, vaccinations, and childbirth preparation was provided. Sessions on postnatal care focused on the recovery process, breastfeeding, and maternal health in the early stages after delivery. The camp also offered personalized advice to expectant mothers regarding self-care practices, physical activity, and avoiding harmful substances. The students’ initiative received positive feedback from the participants, with many appreciating the practical advice and resources provided.

This event successfully raised awareness and empowered expectant mothers in the community to prioritize their health and well-being throughout pregnancy. The event was coordinated by students of MPH and MHA and faculty members of UCHS under the guidance of Dr Kartikey, Joint Registrar and Director UCHS.
