Law College Dehradun organized National Elocution Competition 5.0 under the aegis of Vasundhara - The Green society on 12 December 2024, on the topic ‘Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience under the slogan “Our Land. Our Future.’ The event commenced with a Welcome Address by our hosts, Ananya and Anjali, followed by an inspiring inaugural speech by Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice- Chancellor who emphasized the significance of the theme and referenced the landmark case RLEK v. State of Uttar Pradesh, which transformed the ecological landscape of the Mussoorie hills. More than 30 students from prestigious colleges and universities across the nation, including Vanasthali Vidyapith, Dr Vishwanath Kannad MIT World Peace University, Presidency University, DIT, IIM Rohtak, Lloyd Law School, and many more.
Judges for the Event were Dr Laxmi Priya Vinjamuri, Chairperson of Vasundhara- The Green Society, Ms Saisha Vinjamuri, Head of Department, B M S College of Engineering, Bengaluru, Ms Neha Gupta, Pioneer in sustainable solutions like biofuels, hydrogen generation, and waste-to-energy innovations, Prof (Dr) Anil K. Dixit, Dr Ujjawal Kumar Singh, Dr Manish Bharadwaj. The participants of the National Elocution Competition 5.0 spoke with clarity and passion, highlighting the global impact of land degradation. They cited alarming statistics, such as the loss of 12 million hectares of land annually and the threat of desertification to 1.5 billion people. Participants proposed innovative solutions and also quoted ancient wisdom from the Bhagavad Gita on protecting the earth. The event showcased the youth’s commitment to tackling environmental challenges and promoting a sustainable future. Together, we can protect the planet for future generations!
