Law College Dehradun Celebrates the spirit of democracy magnanimously

Law College Dehradun, Faculty of Uttaranchal University celebrated the 75th Constitution Day on 26 November 2024 magnanimously, in the presence of Senior politician and MLA of the state, Shri Munna Singh Chauhan was the chief guest on this occasion. The program was presided over by the President of the University Shri. Jitendra Joshi encompassing a series of events.

The program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp and collectively reading the Preamble of the Constitution. Shri Jitender Joshi, President, Uttaranchal University in his presidential address, stated that our Constitution is a unique example of wisdom, capability, and experience, and reading it is no less than a prayer for every Indian.
Mr Munna Singh Chauhan in his address averred that the students have presented an exemplary example by donating their blood on Constitution Day and directly contributing to the health services of the state. He said that the origin and continuous development of the democratic values ​​​​enshrined in the Constitution had its roots in the Vedic period. Socialism and secularism are the result of amendments and Parliamentary sovereignty is also the basic structure of the Constitution. He advised the students to focus on increasing their capabilities rather than success.
An amazing sight was seen today at the Law College Dehradun of Uttaranchal University, where more than 1025 students donated blood, while 6 big blood banks (Mahant Indresh Hospital, I.M.A. Blood Bank, Doon Hospital, Subharti Hospital, AIIMS Rishikesh, Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, Jolly Grant) with more than 100 technicians and doctors indulged in the process. 450 units of blood were collected by Mahant Indresh Blood Bank.
Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University stated that at Law College Dehradun, voluntary blood donation is celebrated as a resolution for the last 20 years. Till now, the students here have been contributing to the progress of the nation by donating blood in thousands and are continuing the legacy in various district courts even after graduating from college. Prof (Dr) Dharma Buddhi, Vice Chancellor said that 35 percent of the members of the first Parliament of India were advocates and insisted the students take the lead role in social change.
Ms. Ankita Joshi, Vice- President, Uttaranchal University stated that while our Constitution is the largest Constitution in the world on one hand, it is also a comprehensive document that is capable of guiding us successfully even in the most difficult situations.
Prof (Dr) Poonam Rawat, Principal presented the vote of thanks while the camp was jointly organised by Legal Aid Centre, National Service Scheme, NCC and Uttarakhand Hospital and Diagnostic Centre.
