Law College Dehradun organised a workshop on the Service Selection Board on the topic “A Gateway to Judge Advocate General” on 8 October 2024 under the aegis of its Training and Recruitment Division. Group Capt. Sandeep Mohan, Retd. Officer, Indian Air Force presided as the resource person for the workshop.
The workshop commenced with the felicitation and lamp-lighting ceremony. Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice- Chancellor, Uttaranchal University, and Dean, Law College Dehradun, introduced the resource person for the workshop in his welcome address.
The workshop was divided into two sessions that were held in the Board Room, Law College Dehradun. The first session began with the introduction of the armed forces which included Comprehensive National Power in the form of National Economy, National Military and Political Stability. The role of the Armed Forces in defending the country, along with the role and responsibilities of the officers during war and during peace time was also explained. Following this,, the duties and the selection process of the JAG Branch were explained. It also included the role of a JAG officer in delivering independent, operationally focused, selection oriented legal advice and service across forces; along with the eligibility and the selection process of JAG Branch, which was conducted through various series of tests including, written test, SSB & CPSS, medical test and lastly the merit list. The second session included briefing of various techniques to assess the candidates for SSB through Interview testing which elaborated on the 15 main Officer Like Qualities (OLQs), Group testing and psychological testing which vided a three-dimensional view of an individual. This was followed by a Group Discussion Round. The session was concluded by demonstrating the fears of an individual and the ways to overcome them.
