Uttaranchal University Organized Mega Plantation Drive Under National Campaign "एक पेड़ माँ के नाम – Plant4Mother"

As part of the national campaign "एक पेड़ माँ के नाम Plant4Mother," incited by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India to encourage community participation and collective action in planting trees in honour of our mother, Uttaranchal University successfully organized a Mega Plantation Drive in its campus. The event saw active participation of NCC, NSS, and Agriculture students, faculty members, Heads of Departments, Dean, Directors and other senior officials of the university, including Shri Jitendra Joshi the Hon'ble President of the University, Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Vice Chancellor, and Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro-Vice Chancellor, actively participated in the plantation of medicinal and fruit trees like Indian gooseberry (आंवला), Behada (बहेड़ा), Harad  (हरड़),  Neem (नीम), Chandni (चांदनी), Guava (अमरूद), Gamhar (गम्हार), Moringa (मोरिंगा), Shami (शमी) and many other plants in the university campus.       

The Hon'ble President of the University emphasized the critical role of tree plantation in mitigation of adverse impacts of climate change and global warming. He highlighted the importance of preserving local biodiversity and motivated all students for planting trees in their communities. Additionally, he stressed the importance of proper care of the newly planted saplings to ensure their healthy growth. In this dive, over 100 trees were planted within the campus, marking a significant contribution to environmental conservation and sustainability efforts. The event demonstrated the University's commitment for the environmental stewardship and served as an inspiration for every student and staff to contribute for the green cause throughout their lives.
