USHHM MARKED WORLD TOURISM DAY 2024 WITH EXCITING CELEBRATION AND VARIOUS COMPETITION

The Uttaranchal School of Hotel & Hospitality Management (USHHM) marked World Tourism Day 2024 with a dynamic celebration that united students from various schools. The event highlighted a vibrant chef competition, a Traditional Costume competition, and a challenging quiz, all designed to showcase the skills and knowledge of young participants while fostering greater awareness of the significance of tourism. 

The chef competition, themed "Healthy Palate," gave aspiring chefs the opportunity to showcase their culinary expertise by presenting dishes that emphasized health-conscious ingredients and techniques. The distinguished panel of judges, including Prof (Dr) Shravan Kumar, Dean Student Welfare & Director, SLA, Prof (Dr) Poonam Rawat, Principal, Law College, and Dr Manish Badoni, Director, USHHM, commended the participants for their creativity and flavor profiles. Banti Kumar, Shane, Gaurav, and Shiva emerged as the winners, impressing the judges with their innovative dishes that underscored the importance of a healthy palate and mindful cooking methods. 

Simultaneously, the quiz competition challenged participants' knowledge of global tourism trends, sustainable practices, and cultural heritage. In a spirited atmosphere, teams competed fiercely, answering questions that covered everything from historical landmarks to festivals, fairs, and tourist attractions in India. Manshika Thapa and Mihika Singh emerged as quiz champions, demonstrating exceptional expertise and teamwork, and were awarded a Gold Medal and certificates. In the Traditional Costume Competition, Guddi Mehta claimed first place by showcasing Meghalaya's vibrant culture, while Tashi Yuton from Arunachal Pradesh secured second place. All participants received certificates and medals in recognition of their efforts. 

Dr Badoni, Director, USHHM while encouraging the students said that “We are proud to host such engaging activities that inspire our students and the community.” Participants and attendees enjoyed a day filled with harmony, creativity and knowledge sharing, reflecting the spirit of World Tourism Day.
