Rangoli Making Competition Promoting Gender Sensitization and Women Empowerment at Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University

The Women's Cell of Uttaranchal Institute of Management (UIM), Uttaranchal University, organized a Rangoli Making Competition on 6 September 2024, aiming to promote “Gender Sensitization and Women Empowerment.” 

The participants created Rangoli patterns that embodied the idea of "Sexual Harassment and Gender Sensitization." The competition's main criteria were uniqueness, inventiveness, and the capacity to use the traditional Rangoli art form to powerfully communicate a message. 

 

The event commenced with a tone of enthusiasm and positive energy, set by the hosts of Devyani Duklan and Kesar Kaushal, students of the BBA program. Mrs. Jiwanjot Kaur Hira, Head, Women's Cell, UIM, delivered the inaugural address. She motivated the participants and audience by underscoring the significance of women's empowerment in today’s world 

 

The competition witnessed impassioned participation from both students and faculty members, with various teams demonstrating their creativity and skill through their Rangoli designs. The panel of judges—Dr Tilottama Singh, Head of Department, UIM, Dr Babita Rawat, Professor, UIM, and Dr. Sonakshi Bhatia, Assistant Professor, UIM—evaluated the designs based on creativity, originality, and thematic representation.  

 

Dr Tilottama Singh expressed her admiration for the exceptional work presented by the students. She praised their creativity, innovation, and ability to craft visually appealing and meaningful Rangoli designs. 

  

The award ceremony was a proud moment for all, with Harmanjot Kaur, Iram Jahan, Priyanshu Agrawal, and Aniket Singh taking the positions as winners. The first runners-up were Minal Kaushik, Mahi Thakur, Mehfooz Ali, and Mahwish Ahmad, while the second runners-up were Anushka Chand, Anushka, Anshika, and Aarin Panjeta. Their achievements were celebrated, serving as a testament to their talent and dedication to excellence, and they stood as an inspiration to all in attendance.
