The Sports Club of Uttaranchal Institute of Management (UIM) successfully organized an Intra-University Badminton Tournament under the aegis of the University Sports Committee, Uttaranchal University, on September 27th and 28th, 2024. The event featured exciting competitions in both boys' and girls' categories.

The tournament was inaugurated by esteemed dignitaries, including Uttaranchal University Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dharam Buddhi, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, Dr. Abhishek Joshi (Students' Affairs and IT Support), Director UIM Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, Dean of Student Welfare (DSW) Prof. (Dr.) Sharvan Kumar, HOD Dr. Tilottama Singh, University Sports In-charge Mr. Shiva Mallik, and members of the UIM Sports Club.

During the inaugural ceremony, Director UIM, Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, welcomed the dignitaries and shared his insights on the significance of the tournament, encouraging students to showcase their athletic talents. Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna delivered a speech highlighting the university’s sports policy and inspired the participants.

The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation, with 12 teams representing various departments. In the boys' categories, the School of Applied Sciences emerged victorious in both singles and doubles events, while UIM secured the first runner-up position in both formats. In the girls' competition, UIM clinched the titles in singles and doubles, with UIT finishing as the first runner-up in both categories.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by special guest, University Vice President Ms. Ankita Joshi, along with the Pro Vice Chancellor, Director UIM, Director USCS, DSW, faculty members, and club members. Vice President encouraged the students, praised their talents, and presented prizes to the winners and runners-up in both categories.

Special recognition was given to outstanding players, with Raghav Bisht from UIM named the Best Player in the boys' category and Astha from UIM awarded the Best Player in the girls' category.

The tournament was a resounding success, fostering camaraderie, sportsmanship, and a spirit of healthy competition among the students.
