Vasundhara - The Green Society organized “Vriksh Mahotsav” under the aegis of Law College Dehradun, Faculty of Uttaranchal University in Collaboration with Smriti Vikas Sansthan, celebrating the spirit of Independence Day on its eve, the 14 August 2024. The destination chosen by the NGO and the Department of Forests was in the Jhajhra Range for “Vrikshropan” a plantation drive with an objective to a sustainable future in the spirit of freedom
This initiative of Vasundhara- The Green Society towards “One tree for 100 lives”, “Ek Ped Dhara Ke Naam” in collaboration with well-known NGO Smriti Vikas Sansthan that donated the native plants was launched by Mrs Kusum Kandwal, Chairperson Uttarakhand State Women Commission, the Chief Guest of the drive, Mr . Surendra Singh, Secretary- Smriti Vikas Sansthan, Diksha Bijalwan, Range Officer of Jhajra Range Forest Department and Prof (Dr) Lakshmi Priya Vinjamuri, the Chairperson, Vasundhara- The Green Society along with the student members participating enthusiastically. All the student members of the society planted one native tree led by Megha Kavtiyal and Ashwati Shah followed by an awareness rally in the village with the officers of the forest department.
The event was a stupendous success with three organizations joining hands with Green society in promoting environmental consciousness.
