Uttaranchal Insititute of Technology organized an industrial visit to Survey of India for B Tech I year students on 21 August 2024 as a part of ongoing induction program. It was an opportunity to gain firsthand experience of the industry. The Survey of India is a central engineering agency taking care of mapping and surveying. The students got an opportunity to visit the museum.
There were sixty students accompanied, guided, and supervised by faculty members namely Mr Gaurav Thakur & Dr Ruby Pant. The students boarded the college bus from the campus at 10:30 AM & headed for Survey of India museum on EC Road. The students were duly welcomed by the officer in charge Surveyor Ms Payal Arya, and she guided the students further.
The students were filled with enthusiasm on seeing many instruments and devices and were given information on the instruments like Great Theodolite, Ramsden 100-foot chain, Colby compensation bar. The tour was highly informative and had a high educational value. Along with being a great learning curve it was also an excursion for the students out of the daily routine. The students were also provided refreshments by the college.
The visit was organized under the supervision of Prof (Dr) S K Shah, Head, B Tech first year, Prof (Dr) Sumit Chaudhary Director, UIT. The students expressed gratitude for such an enriching experience and requested to continue this learning exercise in the future also for the larger benefit of the students.
