Law College Dehradun Organized a seven day National Faculty Development Program



Law College Dehradun organized a seven National Faculty Development Program on Indian Knowledge Systems in contemporary legal framework with reference to jurisprudential and intersectional approach from 15 to 23 July 2024.  

Prof S D Sharma, former Dean, School of Law, Kumaon University delivered his inaugural address on 15 July 2024 on Indian Values in the light of Contemporary Legal and Social Issues was an enlightening experience to understand the relevance of IKS in social and constitutional context. Prof Santosh Kumar Shukla, JNU deliberated on the Learning of IKS in Law of Evidence, an interesting and intriguing session with many insights into the Shastras, Sutras and Upanishads. The session by Prof Amarpal Singh on the Constitutional Relevancy of the IKS was a thought-provoking session throwing light on the adoption of the ancient knowledge resonating in the Indian constitution. Dr Avneet Kumar Ghildial, spoke on the political relevance of the IKS with special reference to the education of the past in comparison to the present. Prof Bhangya Bhukya threw light on the importance of historical and political thought processes in providing legal impetus. Prof Nagaraju’s discourse intertwined a rich and intricate tapestry of ideology learning from the past knowledge to its application in the contemporary NEP.f Bf. Braj Kishore Swain, from Shri Jagannath Sanskrit University, threw light on the concept and sources of Indian jurisprudence and its relevancy in the contemporary era. 

We had 150 registered participants from 56 different universities across the nation, besides in-house faculty members. The team NFDP 2024 comprised the convenor Dr Lakshmi Priya Vinjamuri, members Dr Prerna Kainthola, Mr Nikunj Kumar Yadav, Mr Vatsal Chowdhary, Mr Jagat Narayan, Mr Akshya Kumar and Mr Amit Kumar, and on the advisory board Prof (Dr) Poonam Rawat & Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna.
