Law College Dehradun commences its one week National Faculty Development Program

Law College Dehradun, faculty of Uttaranchal University commences its 7-day National Faculty Development Program (NFDP-2024) on 15 July 2024 with Indian Knowledge System in Contemporary legal framework as its theme. Renowned Scholar of Indian jurisprudence Prof. Shiv Datt Sharma graced the occasion as the keynote speaker where more than 130 law teachers and researchers from across the country, including teachers of Law College Dehradun participated. 

Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Dean and Pro Vice-Chancellor said that 7 scholars of the country have been selected to train law teachers on the Indian knowledge system. The program will be organized in hybrid mode and the teachers will be enlightened mainly on various dimensions of ancient Indian jurisprudence. 

Prof (Dr) Dharma Buddhi, Vice- Chancellor averred that today when Manusmriti, the oldest legal book of India, is a subject of burning debate across the country, this program organized on ancient jurisprudence of India will be logical in its true sense. 

Prof. Shiv Datt Sharma in his speech analysed Indian values ​​in the context of contemporary social and legal issues and challenges. Speaking on Indian knowledge, he said that there is a difference between knowledge and information, because knowledge is the expression of thoughts, while information is related to things written based on knowledge. Knowledge is power, tool and soul of human life and in addition knowledge is necessary for the all-round development of an individual and society as well.  The technical session concluded with query session, where the speaker put up his views convincingly. 

Prof (Dr) Poonam Rawat, Principal, LCD rendered the vote of thanks, and the program was well coordinated by Dr Lakshmi Priya Vinjamuri.
