School of Applied and Life Sciences celebrated Women’s Day

To raise awareness about the challenges women, face and promote gender equality, Women Cell of School of Applied and Life Sciences celebrated Women’s Day on 6th March 2024. 

The theme of this event was " Inspire Inclusion: Gender Equality & Eradication of dowry system" with purpose to sensitize women about their rights and issues. Prof Poonam Rawat Chairperson Women cell Uttaranchal University was the Chief Guest for the occasion and Prof Ajay Singh Dean SALS was the Guest of Honour. 


Prof Bharti Ramola Head Women Cell SALS gave a warm welcome to all dignitaries faculty and students. Prof Ajay Singh stressed the need for an educated women to uplift society. 


Prof Poonam Rawat emphasised the need to sensitive everyone of ill effects of dowry system. 


A beautiful dance drama showcasing the challenges faced by women and their strong will to overcome them and pave path for an empowered society, was portrayed by the post graduate students of Chemistry and Environmental Science. The event was coordinated by Dr Sadhna Awasthi, Prof Bharti Ramola along with students of Chemistry and Environment. 


A face painting competition was also organised as a part of the event and team of Bobby and Kopal stood first.
