On 12 March 2024, School of Liberal Arts, Uttaranchal University organised an interactive workshop by Ms Astha Nagpal, Clinical Psychologist, founder Daffodils, Therapy Studio, New Delhi. Ms Nagpal is an awardee of The Economic Times Health Care Award 2023 for "Excellence in Clinical Services - Mental Health and Wellness" in the Northern Region of India. The workshop started with the lamp lighting by Prof Dharam Buddhi, Vice Chancellor, Uttaranchal University and Prof (Dr) Shravan Kumar, Dean, School of Liberal Arts.  

 

The half-day interactive workshop elaborated upon the importance of mental health and need to provide inclusive environment to the students, addressing their grievances in a humane instead of mechanical manner, roping in senior students and faculties, and taking steps to aid the mental health of both the teachers and the psychology students.  

 

Thereafter, Ms Nagpal also elaborated on key theories from the Psychodynamic discipline of psychology and the therapeutic techniques designed to develop clinical competency in working with patients from an object relations/inter-subjective approach, wherein practitioners may opt to conduct therapy in several ways, depending on their resources, availability, focus, and desired level of educational and clinical commitment.  Shri Jitender Joshi, Chancellor, felicitated the speaker for her beneficial deliberations. The workshop was wrapped up with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms Atika Tewari, coordinator of the event.
