Uttaranchal College of Nursing, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun organized a series of events to raise awareness about glaucoma at the Community Health Centre and Village, Charba on 11 and 16 March 2024. The objective of the Glaucoma Awareness Week was to educate residents about the risks, symptoms, and significance of early detection and treatment of glaucoma.

The program comprised both educational sessions and interactive street plays (Nukkad Natak). Under the supervision of Mrs Veena, a staff nurse at CHC Dehradun, the first group, including Neha Tiwari, Rishika, Roshni Shah, and Kajal Kumari, actively engaged with people in the hospital area, providing valuable health education on glaucoma. They elucidated the nature of the condition, its prevention, and available treatments, aiming to empower the community with essential knowledge.

On 16 March, another group of students, consisting of Pooja, Yogita Pal, Amit, Sonal, Sonam, Gurpreet Priya Singh, Yogita Singh, Neha Tiwari, and Shruti, performed a street play to highlight the causes of glaucoma and emphasize preventive measures.

The success of the initiative owes much to the collaboration and support received from various quarters. We express our gratitude to the CHC staff, volunteers, healthcare professionals, sponsors, and attendees whose contributions were instrumental in making the event impactful. Their dedication to promoting glaucoma awareness reflects a shared commitment to community health and wellbeing. The event was successfully coordinated by Ms Tanuja and Mr Naveen, members of faculty, UCN.
