The students of the Eureka club at the Physics Department of the School of Applied and Life Sciences (SALS), Uttaranchal University, Dehradun organized an awareness program on “Climate Change” in the village of Shivpuri on 12 March 2024 as part of their extension activities.
The objective of the awareness program was to engage the local community, particularly students, and raise awareness about how human activities are affecting the climate, to promote a sense of responsibility towards the environment, and to support their holistic development. They were also made aware of the direct effect of climate change on the livelihood of the people. The overarching goal was to foster social responsibility and address societal issues through hands-on involvement and interaction with the community.
Such initiatives play a crucial role in enhancing students' understanding of social and environmental issues, promoting community engagement, and instilling values of social responsibility and citizenship. Students from various disciplines within the School of Applied & Life Sciences participated in the event, coordinated by Dr Narinder Kumar from the Physics Department.
