Law College Dehradun organised a workshop on “Women's health and hygiene” on 7 February 2024. The resource person was Dr Preeti Tiwari, a women empowerment entrepreneur and wellness coach, and the seminar aimed to educate and create awareness among women about the importance of maintaining proper hygiene, particularly during menstruation.
Dr Tiwari stressed the significance of adopting proper menstrual hygiene practices to prevent infections and promote overall well-being. She discussed the importance of using sanitary products such as sanitary pads and highlighted the need to change them regularly. The presenter provided insights into the various sanitary products available in the market and guided attendees on how to choose the right product based on individual preferences, flow intensity, and comfort level. She insisted on the importance of reading product labels and understanding their components to ensure safety and efficacy.
Dr Tiwari addressed the environmental concerns associated with disposable sanitary products and encouraged the audience to explore eco-friendly sanitary pads, which would eventually reduce waste generation and minimize environmental pollution. The seminar also focused on general hygiene practices, including proper washing techniques, maintaining cleanliness during menstruation, and disposing of sanitary products hygienically.
Acknowledging the disparities in access to menstrual hygiene products and education, Dr Tiwari accentuated the importance of advocating for universal access to affordable and quality sanitary products. Subsequently, the seminar provided valuable insights and practical guidance to attendees by raising awareness and promoting proper menstrual hygiene practices and Dr Tiwari's efforts contributed to improving the overall health and well-being of women in our community.
