The three-day educational visit to Palampur, organized by the School of Applied and Life Sciences from 23 February to 25 February 2024 for B Sc and M Sc Biotechnology students. IT provided a rich experiential learning opportunity encompassing visits to CSIR IHBT, Tulip Garden, and the Bamboo Museum. A highlight of our itinerary was the visit to the Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT), where the students delved into various aspects of biotechnology under the guidance of leading scientists and researchers. The Tulip Garden within the IHBT campus, with its breathtaking display of tulips against the backdrop of the Himalayan range, provided a memorable experience. Additionally, the students have explored the serene Tea Gardens of Palampur, gaining insights into tea cultivation and processing. The cultural excursion included a visit to the ancient Bajnath Temple, steeped in history and architectural marvel. Furthermore, students had the opportunity to witness the grandeur of the Dharamshala Cricket Stadium, a testament to the region's sporting passion. These diverse experiences not only enriched academic understanding but also fostered a deeper appreciation for the natural and cultural heritage of the region, inspiring academic and professional endeavours in the field of biotechnology while deepening the understanding of biodiversity conservation efforts.

The trip was organized by Dr Indra Rautela, Ms Priyanka Uniyal and Mr Shivam Bhatiya as trip coordinators.
