Law College Dehradun organized a “Workshop on RTI and RTI Application Drafting Competition” under the aegis of Pro Bono Club, in collaboration with the Legal Aid Centre on 26 February 2024. The seminar was facilitated by Mr Virendra Kumar M Thakkar, Assistant Professor, G B Pant Institute of Engineering and Technology as the resource person of the event. The event commenced with the welcome and introduction of the resource person by Prof (Dr) Poonam Rawat, Principal, Law College Dehradun.
The session included a lively question-and-answer segment. To assess the understanding of RTI, a 30-minute test comprising 30 multiple-choice questions was administered at the conclusion of the workshop. Overall, the event provided participants with a deeper knowledge of RTI and its practical application. After a 40-minute intermission, the event entered its second phase of RTI drafting competition. Participants were assigned separate classrooms and given a scenario for which they had to draft an RTI application within 20 minutes.
Following the competition, the Valedictory ceremony took place. The Chief Guest for the ceremony was Mr Yogesh Bhatt, Information Commissioner, Uttarakhand Information Commission, who rendered a comprehensive discourse on RTI. Concluding the event, Prof (Dr) Poonam Rawat expressed gratitude through a vote of thanks, followed by the National Anthem.
