As part of the Civil Engineering Department's commitment to students' holistic growth, a tailored site visit to Dev Bhoomi Constructions’ Premnagar site occurred on December 5, 2023. Specifically designed for third-year Civil Engineering students, coordinated by Mr. Gaurav Thakur, Assistant Professor, and facilitated by Mr. Awadhesh Chandramauli, Head of Civil Engineering, and Dr. Basant Ballabh Dumka, Assistant Professor, with support from Site Engineer Mr. Pushkar.
Prof (Dr) S D Pandey, UIT's Dean, initiated the visit with an empowering speech, motivating the engaged third-year B Tech. Civil Engineering students.
The visit aimed to familiarize students with structural drawings, enhance their drawing interpretation skills, understand construction procedures, particularly in pumping and management, and provide practical exposure to reinforcement, shuttering, and casting techniques for beams and slabs.
During the visit to the G+5 tower construction site, students explored various construction facets. They analyzed reinforcement drawings for slabs and beams, learning to implement reinforcement patterns and distinguish between types. Additionally, they absorbed insights into column layouts, column shuttering techniques, and nuances in slab and beam shuttering, alongside learning about brick masonry and staircase reinforcement.
This rich learning experience provided practical insights into structural drawings, reinforcement techniques, and construction procedures. The hands-on exposure enhanced their real-world understanding of Civil Engineering complexities, aligning with the department's commitment to shaping industry-ready engineers.
