The Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences at Uttaranchal University organized an International Webinar on “Machine Learning Techniques for Large Datasets using YOLOv8” on October 31, 2023. The guest speaker for the event was Dr Nguyen Ha Huy Cuong, Deputy Director of the Software Development Centre (SDC) at Danang University, Da Nang City, Vietnam. Dr Cuong effectively explained all the preprocessing steps and emphasized the best deep- learning model for classifying the ripeness stage of pomegranate fruits in orchards.
The session concluded with active student participation, as they asked questions about various machine- learning techniques, making it a highly interactive and valuable experience. Prof (Dr) Sonal Sharma, Dean of USCS, motivated the students and expressed gratitude to Dr Cuong for sharing his valuable insights. The vote of thanks at the end was proposed by Dr Monisha Awasthi, Associate Professor at USCS. The event was deemed a great success, and the support of Dr Sameer Dev Sharma, Head of Department, USCS, Mr Akhilesh Pandey, Assistant Professor, and Mr Abhishek Pathak, Assistant Professor, were instrumental in its success.
