Unity Day, celebrated on the 31st October each year, commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. In 2023, Uttaranchal University embraced the spirit of unity and integration by organizing a grand celebration under the National Service Scheme (NSS). The event aimed to foster a sense of oneness, national pride, and communal harmony among the diverse student community. The Unity Day celebration commenced with a vibrant inauguration ceremony that brought together students, faculty, and staff members. As a symbolic gesture of commitment to the ideals of unity, diversity, and national integration, a Unity Oath was administered during the Unity Day celebration. The recitation of the Unity Oath served as a powerful moment of collective commitment, emphasizing that unity is not just a concept but a shared responsibility that each member of the university community carries forward in their daily lives. This pledge became a guiding force, inspiring participants to embody the principles of unity and contribute positively to the nation's growth and well-being. The National Service Scheme (NSS) played a pivotal role in the successful organization and execution of the Unity Day 2023 celebration at Uttaranchal University. NSS, with its ethos of community service and social responsibility, contributed significantly to various aspects of the event, enriching the experience for participants and fostering a sense of unity among the student community. During the oath ceremony, Dr Ajay Singh, Dean SALS, Dr V K Srivastava, and Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma, NSS Programme officers of the University, along with staff members and NSS volunteers, were present to witness and participate in this momentous occasion.
