Epiphany: UU ELTAI Reading Club organised a celebration to commemorate 'International Translation Day' on 4 October 2023. The event was organised to establish the significance of translation in bridging cultures and sharing knowledge. The students participated in various activities that involved translating various expressions, songs, and dialogues from Bollywood movies into their own regional languages. The students translated them in languages such as Bhojpuri, Haryanvi, Garhwali, Kumaoni, Gujarati, Bengali, Tamil amongst a few others. They also performed folk dances and sang songs in varied tongues. Prof (Dr) Shravan Kumar, Dean of the School of Liberal Arts highlighted the role of language and shed light on the importance of translation in the contemporary world. The entire event was managed by Dr Anubhuti Dhyani, the coordinator of the club. Overall, the celebration offered everyone a chance to immerse themselves in various cultural phenomenon that might otherwise seem unfamiliar and distant when seen through one’s own cultural perspective.
