Uttaranchal University's Hospitality Club Marks World Tourism Day 2023: A Journey of Exploration, Culture, and Indian Flavors

On September 27, 2023, the Hospitality Club of Uttaranchal School of Hotel & Hospitality Management at Uttaranchal University hosted an extraordinary celebration in honor of World Tourism Day 2023. This memorable day was dedicated to the spirit of exploration, cultural exchange, and the delightful flavors of India. 


The event was inaugurated by esteemed guests, including the Hon’ble Chancellor, Mr. Jitender Joshi Ji, Hon’ble Vice-President Dr. Satbir Singh Sehgal, Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dharam Buddhi, and Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna. The festivities commenced with a joyous cake-cutting ceremony, symbolizing the beginning of a remarkable journey into the essence of India's diverse culture and cuisine. 


The highlight of the celebration was the "Taste of Uttaranchal University" chef competition, where talented students showcased their culinary expertise by preparing and presenting mouth-watering dishes from various Indian states. From the aromatic delights of Bihar’s Litti chokha to the fragrant Hyderabadi Biryani, each dish was a testament to India's rich culinary heritage, leaving judges astounded by the culinary finesse displayed. 


The "Cultural fair competition" followed, with students dressed in traditional attire from different Indian states, transforming the campus into a vibrant tableau of Indian culture. The colorful array of clothing, accessories, and performances highlighted India's unity in diversity, showcasing meticulous attention to detail and enthusiastic representation of various cultures. 


As a heartfelt gesture, dignitaries were presented with exquisite, handcrafted sketches created by talented hotel management students, capturing the essence of hospitality and serving as lasting mementos of the day. 


The event was a resounding success, uniting the school and university community in celebrating India's rich culture, diverse cuisine, and the importance of tourism in fostering cross-cultural understanding. Dignitaries congratulated the participants, extended their blessings for future endeavours and encouraged faculty members to initiate more activities for knowledge sharing among students.
