The NCC unit of Uttaranchal University conducted an enrollment drive for 29 UK battalion NCC, Dehradun on 29 September 2023. The University conducted a pre-enrollment drive on 16 Sep 2023 where more than 300 students participated in the initial round. Following a rigorous assessment, 161 students were selected for the final selection.
Sub. Jagmohan, Hav. Sonam Thapa and Mr. Umesh Bhandari from 29 UK Battalion were appointed by the Unit for the selection based on the assessment of the students' physical standards, which included running, height, weight, push-ups, and sit-ups. Finally, 7 (SW) girls and 11(SD) boys were selected for the battalion.
On this occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna appreciated the efforts of the students and offered his best wishes to the selected students. Chancellor Shri Jitender Joshi applauded the students for taking interest in NCC enrollment and mentioned that NCC is the best platform for the students as it gives them a great opportunity for their overall growth and at the same time instils in them moral values, a feeling of responsibility, and other virtues that will help them to become successful leaders and good citizens. Lt. Nitin Duklan, ANO Uttaranchal University and Mr. Sarweshwar Prasad, NCC instructor were also present and coordinated the entire drive successfully.
