Globe Club, Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University conducted the Tree Plantation Drive in collaboration with an NGO- ‘Jai-Youth Wing, Shri Nityanand Swami Jan Sewa Samiti’ on 26 August 2023 with a commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement for the students of UIM. Over 100 trees were planted at the Christen Retreat Centre on Old Mussoorie Road. This event took place under the glorious presence of Chief Guest, the honourable cabinet minister of Uttarakhand Shri Ganesh Joshi.
The objective of this drive was to direct student’s minds in constructive activity as well as sensitise them towards the environment and its importance in human life. This collaborative effort underscores the significance of youth-led initiatives in nurturing a greener future. Such activities always encourage the students to participate in environmental awareness and upliftment, while enhancing mutual coordination and self-introspection. We at UIM believe that by actively planting trees, we combat deforestation and promote reforestation which helps in the conservation of biodiversity and protects our ecosystem.
It was conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, Dean, UIM was executed with the coordinated efforts of Mr. Manish Galwan, Head-Globe Club, and the members with the support of Dr. Tilottama Singh, HOD, UIM. The drive organized by UIM, Uttaranchal University for the students exemplify the institution's commitment to holistic education and sustainable practices by providing students with a platform to engage with nature and environmental conservation. This initiative stands as a testament to the power of education in driving positive change for both local communities and the environment.
