The Knowledge Resource Centre, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, organised an interactive session on the topic "Understanding Research Ethics and Plagiarism" on September 17, 2022. The webinar received 554+ registrations from all over India.
Prof. (Dr) Bulu Maharana, Head LIS Department, Sambalpur University, Odisha, and Dr Shri Ram, University Librarian, Sikkim University, Gangtok, presented an informative session on "Understanding Research Ethics and Plagiarism" during the webinar. The event was moderated by Dr Deepika Dangi, Asst Professor from the School of Applied Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, with opening remarks on the webinar. She introduced all the panelists: the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Pro Vice- Chancellor, Prof. (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Webinar Convener, Dr Ramveer Tanwar, and Resource Persons, Prof. (Dr) Bulu Maharana, Head of Library and Information Science Sambalpur University, Odisha, and Dr Shri Ram University Librarian, Gangtok, Sikkim.
Dr Ramveer Tanwar, the University Librarian at Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, welcomed all 220 participants, distinguished speakers, and upper management. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr) Dharam Buddhi and Pro VC, Prof. (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, shared wise words with the participants and motivated them to do quality research in their respective areas. Both resource persons expressed their detailed views on the following topics: Principles of research ethics and issues of research misconduct, ethical norms, principles in research, research integrity, research misconduct; Avoiding plagiarism in academic writing: A methodological approach, research type, and forms; Plagiarism avoidance techniques, paraphrasing, reference management software, and tools to avoid plagiarism along with the legal aspects of plagiarism. At the end, a vote of thanks was proposed by Mr Arun S. Thakur, Sr. Grade Librarian, to the participants in the event.
