Law College Dehradun, faculty of Uttaranchal University under the aegis of Women Cell initiated a sanitary napkin distribution drive on 28th December 2022 to ensure underprivileged women live with dignity. Pro Vice Chancellor of Uttaranchal University & Dean Law College Dehradun, Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna initiated the drive and congratulated the Women Cell for organizing a drive for such a noble cause. The drive started with the distribution of sanitary napkins to the female supporting staff of Uttaranchal University and then to the labourers at the nearby construction site.
Dr. V. Bhuvaneswari, Chairperson, LCD Women Cell, addressed the female labourers on awareness and health issues followed by a talk on the menstrual phenomenon and ways of dealing it, the scientific and biological reasoning behind menstruation, correct usage of sanitary napkins and their disposal. The Drive was a step towards creating awareness on menstrual hygiene among a group of females who cannot afford sanitary napkins on a regular basis. Dr. Sandhya Verma Member Secretary of LCD Women Cell assured the beneficiary women for the regular supply of sanitary napkins.
Harshita Raj, student of B.B.A. LL.B. anchored the event and delivered a speech on female health-related issues. The event was graced by the member of Women Cell Dr. Shikha Uniyal Gairola. Dr. Laxmi Priya, Ms. Hadiya Khan, Dr. Vibha, Dr. Kanchan Kishore Rawat, Ms. Ravneet Kaur, Ms. Mansi, Ms. Garima Chuphal, Ms. Sarita Gurung and student representative Nehal Ray.
