The
University Sports Committee successfully organized the Intra-University
Badminton and Table Tennis Tournaments on September 11 and 12, 2026. Conducted
under the aegis of the University Sports Committee, the Table Tennis tournament
was organized by the School of Applied and Life Sciences (SALS), while the
Uttaranchal Institute of Management (UIM) hosted the Badminton tournament. The
competitions brought together student athletes from various constituent schools
of the University. Shri. Jitendra Joshi, President, inaugurated the Table
Tennis competition at SALS. Ms. Ankita Joshi, Vice-President, inaugurated the
Badminton competition at UIM. Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Director, SALS, and Dr.
Pradip Suri, Director, UIM, welcomed the guests and participants.
UIM
won the Men’s Badminton title, with UIT finishing runner-up; Raghav Bisht was
declared Best Player. In Women’s Badminton, UIPS secured the title while LCD
finished runner-up, and Shreya received the Best Player award. In Table Tennis,
UIT emerged champions in the men’s category, with LCD as runner-up and Gaurav
Kandpal named Best Player. UMCAR won the Women’s Table Tennis title, while UIT
secured the runner-up position; Mannu was honoured as Best Player.
The closing ceremony was hosted by UIM, where Shri. Jitendra Joshi, President, and Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro-Vice Chancellor, distributed prizes. Referees Mr. Sumit Kumar, Mr. Sachin Rawat and Mr. Shashank Uniyal were felicitated for their contribution to the successful conduct of the tournaments. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. (Dr.) Kartikey, Dean Student Welfare, who appreciated the efforts of referees, sports in-charge, Mr. Shiva Malik, faculty members and students.
